Belfast: Belfast
Property Doomed ?
People from all over Belfast and North
Down will recognise the pictures below of this local prominent
landmark. This imposing landmark sat proudly on the hill of
the Kings Road in East Belfast until it was raised to the
ground.
One can only speculate as to why the
developers wanted to demolish it rather than incorporate it
into their plans, having viewed the objections to its
demolition.
In a new age there has to be a balance struck
between the old and the new, character and style, advancement
and culture, individual desires balanced with communities and
were money is not the sole consideration.
Even our bestowed politicians are now in on
the game, but when the game is played, when they have stopped
playing I spy a small space of land and then grant planning
permission for 20 apartments on it, are the hearts of our
communities going to be destroyed? Some would argue that East
Belfast is slowly being destroyed.
A ballyhack.co.uk user recently asked
all DUP, UUP & Alliance politicians who are on the
Planning Committee in Belfast City Council to meet with
him and to date not one, that's right, not one has yet got
back to him. It was Les Dawson that once said, there's
no point in telling politicians to go hell, cause
they're building it for us, is he right?
Are our politicians failing us?
Are too many of our homes being bought for
development?
Is there over development in the East
Belfast and North Down?
Should the heritage we have, like here,
at 100 Kings Road, be lost for ever?
Should planning laws be tightened?
Are our politicians failing
us, is there a conflict of interest?
