BELFAST NEWS:
SMILE YOU'RE ON
BALLYHACKAMORE
SPEED
CAMERA !
On Tuesday the 1st July 2003 the
BBC reported that three Belfast roads which were
described as "hotspots" for accidents
have become the first areas in Northern Ireland
to have fixed police speed cameras.
One of those cameras to everyone amazement was
on the Upper Newtownards Road at Ballyhackamore,
in East Belfast.
Five years on ballyhack.co.uk has requested the
PSNI to provide figures:
1. As to how many accidents occurred at this
spot each year in the five years proceeding this
cameras installation?
2. How many accidents have been recorded at this
spot since the placement of this cameras?
3. How many fines for speeding were issued each
year for the proceeding five years, on this
stretch of the Upper Newtownards Road?
4. How many fines have been issued using the
camera each year since installation?
5. How much did this camera cost to install?
6. What are the annual running costs of this
camera?
ballyhack.co.uk are asking these questions on
your behalf. How many East Belfast residents are
being stung, in what some call a money making exercise
in road safety?
